No, she's not just bad at shoe shopping.

A modern day style icon, Meghan Markle is often hailed for her sartorial choices, from her love of Givenchy to her sold-out Mother jeans.

However, the duchess is often pictured wearing shoes that are slightly too large for her, something that seems strange given her otherwise sharp style.

If you thought her stylist just didn't know her size, it turns out the oversized footwear is actually a well-thought out choice.

Royals and celebrities apparently often opt for larger shoes to avoid an ever-common foot ailment: blisters.

'Celebs often go a size up, or even two, in the shoe department when they're at an event or on the red carpet and it's for one reason we can all relate to – to avoid blisters,' Harriet Davey told The Sun.

'There's nothing worse than uncomfortable shoes (we've all been there on a night out) and when celebs like Meghan are wearing heels for a long period of time their feet can often swell up.'

When you think about how long Meghan has to spend on her feet at public engagements, it makes total sense.

So how does she prevent the slightly too large shoes flying off her feet?

'A trick of the trade is to stuff the toe with padding like tissue or cotton wool, and this can be taken out once they feel like they need a bit more room in their shoes.'

There you have it.

So when you see Meghan wearing her signature Aquazzura or Stuart Weitzman pumps know they're a little roomy on purpose.

We're thinking we're going to do this at the next wedding we have to go to...
