Halle Berry: 6 Life Rules That Keep Her Looking So Unbelievably Young

The Hollywood starlet talks exclusively to us about confidence, style and how to ace the age issue.

1. I know when to ask for help
I don’t skip on facialist appointments. I see Olga Northrop three or four times a year because she completely understands my skin. She’s committed to women and their skin, no matter what age and has her own brilliant skincare line called Kinara.

2. I don’t act old before my time
I haven’t had a need yet for technical creams yet so I keep it very simple and just cleanse tone and moisturise. Women in their twenties are turning to anti-aging products too soon instead of getting help from aestheticians.

3. Do whatever feels best for you
I feel my best self when I have short hair. I chopped it off in my twenties and everyone said I’d never work looking like that but I booked my best TV job the very next day.

4. Sugar is poison
For both your system and your skin. I’m diabetic so I avoiding sugar and that helps with anti-aging. I use Xylitol as a sugar substitute and give it to my daughter. It’s rough though because she’s at a friend’s birthday party every other month and there are all these wonderful birthday cakes so I don’t deprive her from that. I strongly believe in talking about nutrition at an early age and setting a good example.

5. Be your own stylist
I respond to the women who wear what they feel comfortable in. I love fashion and am a girls’ girl so I find it fun to dress up and express myself in different looks. I have more individuality and authenticity that way and thoroughly believe in daring to be who you are.

6. Make-up transcends the years
I’ve been a Revlon ambassador for fifteen years and I haven’t stopped evolving with them. I’ve never stopped playing with cosmetics. Right now I’m loving Revlon Photoready Lights, (£11.99 each), for effective highlighting that you don’t need to be a make-up artist to apply.
