The MC fashion team gets a Rocky Mountain high
We stayed at...
The Vail Plaza, the newest hotel in this famous ski resort. With a chic alpine feel, central location and amazing mountain views, it's a perfect base. There are two restaurants, a fitness centre and spa, hot tubs, and the main chairlift is just a short walk away. Double rooms cost from £394, or Kuoni offers packages including flights and transfers.
Our top five things to do...
1. Get skiing. This is one of the best resorts in the US, with fast lifts and well-kept slopes. Find out more information here.
2. Dine out at fine restaurants in the Tyrolean-style Vail Village - we especially liked Montauk Seafood Grill.
3. Hit the shops - you can pick up everything from fine art and local crafts to cowboy boots.
4. Have a dip in the world's largest outdoor hot springs pool at Glenwood, an hour from Vail.
5. Visit in the summer months for activities such as hiking, biking and horse riding.
We flew to...
Denver, from where you can drive west to Vail in around two hours, or there's a local airport. British Airways flies direct to Denver from Heathrow. In March, return fares cost from £402 including taxes.
