Riad Noga, Marrakech, Morocco

Riad Noga, Marrakech, Morocco, hotel review, i-escape, Marie Claire, travel

Take a pair of historic riads, gut them, refurbish them with Moroccan objets d'art, mix with local labourers, coat in ‘tadlakt’ glazing, add a pool and what have you got? The Riad Noga.

A dream recipe indeed, but German owner Gabriele Noack-Spaeth has managed to produce a simply delicious result.

The combination of Marrakech exotica (palm trees, vaulted ceilings, handcrafted doors, resident parrot) and European efficiency (not the case in all riads) makes it a safe and comfortable choice.

By connecting 3 adjacent houses, they have found space for a lovely courtyard in one and a small pool in the other.

The only hiccough may be locating the riad down a small alley; but once inside, just immerse in cool water and cook slowly on the roof terrace.

Those with a larger appetite, incidentally, can rent the whole house (sleeping 14) along with its 9 well-trained staff.

Riad Noga in the Marrakech Medina is a riad guesthouse with 9 rooms, with doubles costing from €145 for bed and breakfast.
