New Park Manor

Florals, tartan and stripes might not make the best combination when it comes to clothes, but they make a riotous splash when you're talking interior design. Don't believe me? Take a trip to the New Forest's New Park Manor.
Tucked away in the heart of this most beautiful area, the hotel succeeds where so many have failed before it: matching modern style and hospitality with country house hotel tradition.
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, everything that could possibly be done to make us more at home was. The staff were friendly and chatty, but not claustrophobically so, the food fantastic, and the aforementioned floral-meets-tartan-and-stripes rooms stylish, but cosy.
In fact, we had to think long and hard about anything that wasn't perfect. And then the only thing we could come up with being the lack of stand-up shower in our room - a negative automatically cancelled out when we discovered the hot tub outside.
The highs: Being woken to the sound of horses whinneying outside; the five-star restaurant; and the small, but perfectly formed spa with its indulgent outdoor hot tub.
The little touches: There's no 'do not disturb' signs here, instead you pop a furry toy horse outside your door instead.
