The Quay Hotel & Spa

By Carla Bevan  on Wednesday 21 November 2007

The Quay, North Wales

Tucked away in the small town of Deganwy, miles along the A55 in North Wales, sits the country's newest hotel and spa, The Quay. Playing neighbour to a whole new development of modern housing and a flashy marina, the hotel is already drawing a crowd from nearby Manchester and Liverpool looking for somewhere to bed down after a day out at sea.

In stark contrast to the modern hotel with all its mod-cons (think plasma TVs, state-of-the-art appliances and leather sofas), the view from most of the bedrooms is of tiny fishing boats bobbing around on the estuary beneath Deganwy Castle. Most definitely a place for those who want to get away from it all, don't expect banging nightlife or loud music, instead enjoy the peace and quiet, interrupted only by the gentle clomp, clomp of guests pulling on their walking boots and making their way off to tackle the lower reaches of Snowdonia.

The hotel also houses a fabulous restaurant, which is well worth a visit, even if you aren't staying the night, and spa, ideal for those needing a rub-down after a long day's walking.
