A FORMER PRIVATE residence, built by the renowned Victorian architect Arnold Mitchell in 1897, the Grade II-listed Westover Hall is one of the south coast's, if not the UK's, premier boutique hotels. With views across the sea all the way to the Isle of Wight, a short two-minute to the beach and even a private beach hut, you'd be forgiven for thinking summer was the best time to visit Westover Hall.

However, for a romantic winter weekend break it simply can't be beaten. Cosy up behind stunning stained glass windows in front of one of the open log fires, enjoy a candle-lit dinner in the exquisite restaurant or simply take in the lovingly-collected collection of contemporary art in the eponymous hall: everything is designed to ensure you leave feeling rested, happy and madly in love (with the place itself or the person you arrive with is up to you).
