Parisian party planner Thierry Teyssier took three years to perfect his dream in Portugal’s Douro winelands. Situated by the river in two villas, the Quinta da Romaneira has 13 rooms and six apartments. Flanked by indoor and outdoor pools, this is a place for rural peace. Dining is a big part of the experience, with every meal set somewhere new – from tapas in the herb garden to a formal feast in the traditional dining room. There’s also a restaurant, Redondo. As winters are mild, Romaneira makes a great off-season break.
