Poole, Dorset
By Joanne O'Connor on Tuesday 9 December 2008
Rex Features
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula on the Dorset coast with great food, gorgeous beaches and lashings of nostalgia. Now it has a grown-up place to stay – the new Hotel du Vin in Poole. A Georgian building set in a quiet, cobbled mews in the old town, it’s been given a slick makeover with a large bistro. Head across the harbour to Purbeck – reached on a chain-link ferry from swanky Sandbanks – and you’ll find the white sands of Studland Bay. Here the Knoll Beach Cafe serves Bridport pork pies and local ice cream. Double rooms cost from £170 including breakfast. For more information, click here.
