We Thrive On Big Cities - Director

By Rose Longhurst  on Wednesday 31 January 2007

Director

Charismatic vocals and polished guitar work from Irish band Director

Here to remind us that music from Ireland isn't all Enya and U2, Dublin's Director provide style and sophistication without panpipes or pomposity. Their debut album has been rapturously received, and a recent Choice Music nomination could see We Thrive in Big Cities named as Irish Album of the Year. Although not wildly inventive, they offer charismatic vocals and polished guitar work. They may not be breaking any new ground, but Director will be embraced by anyone who has wondered what a musical marriage between The Strokes and Editors would sound like.
