Panic Prevention by Jamie T
By Rose Longhurst on Wednesday 24 January 2007
From the opening bars of this album it becomes obvious that Jamie T is not your average singer-songwriter. Fusing rock, punk and reggae, his style has caused such a buzz that his earlier releases have already become collectors' items. Unlike some of his acclaimed contemporaries however, Jamie T actually merits this adulation. Although often described as rap, Jamie's style is more akin to lyrical street poetry. His distinctive voice showcases clever wordplay that betrays his trademark wry humour. No other artist marries pathos with danceable tunes to such success. Effortlessly likeable, Panic Prevention is – to use his own words - 'all thriller, no filler'.
