Charlie Bartlett

Charlie Bartlett

Ferris Bueller for the chemical age

Starring Anton Yelchin, Robert Downey Jr

At the core of this comedy is Charlie (a superb Yelchin), dispensing prescription pills to his schoolmates like a Ferris Bueller for the chemical age, under the nose of his alcoholic principal (Downey Jr). From Donnie Darko to Thumbsucker, films about teenage medication addiction are as commonplace as aspirin these days. But with a script as smart as its hero's mouth, this is the recommended dose.
