Scholars may scoff at this Hollywood history lesson, but this adaptation by The Queen scriptwriter Peter Morgan of Philippa Gregory's best-seller makes for an engaging bodice-ripper. While Johansson plays the title role of Mary, the shy virgin that catches the attention of Henry VIII (a brooding Eric Bana), it's Portman who shines as her ambitious - and better known - sister Anne.
