Marie Claire film review: 27 dresses

The unashamedly girlie movie that's perfect Friday night fodder

Frothy, fun and unashamedly girlie, 27 Dresses sees Knocked Up's Katherine Heigl take on the part of Jane – an unlucky-in-love girl next door who's been bridesmaid - yes, you guessed it - 27 times, in a parade of increasingly awful frocks.

Her biggest test? Planning the nuptials of her model-like sister, who's set to marry Jane's boss, aka, the love of Jane's life.

It won't win any Oscars, but 27 Dresses is perfect Friday night fodder and sees Heigl on track to steal Jennifer Aniston's 'America's favourite sweetheart' sash by the time the year is out.

This review isn't very informative. The magazine is obviously trying to promote Katherine Heigl's image, but if the film is bad, I would prefer a review to say that and give reasons rather that just vaguely implying it.

Dear Izzie,
Thanks for your comments, however, I thought I'd just assure you that this review wasn't intended to promote Heigl's image. If I'd thought the film was bad, I promise I'd have written it was! Rather, I was hoping to explain to readers that it's an enjoyable chick-flick, but not ground-breaking arty film.

If any other readers have seen 27 Dresses, please do let me know what you thought of it.
