Historical romance gets an update

Starring: James Franco, Sophia Myles

The story of Tristan and Isolde has mesmerised storytellers for centuries, and now here is a 21st century interpretation. Set in Ireland in a time of war and Anglo-Irish tussles, Isolde (Myles, far right) rescues fallen English warrior Tristan (Franco, right) and guides him to a cave, where love is kindled. But the course of true love ne’er did run smooth, and there are hands to win and fathers to placate. Inoffensive Hollywood stuff, the film brings nothing new to the story other than a couple of actors destined for pin-updom.
