The Man Who Disappeared, by Clare Morrall

A compelling look at what happens to a family when its world is shattered.

Kate Kendall has three lovely children, a beautiful home, and a husband, Felix, whom she trusts implicitly. But all that security and stability is whipped away in an instant when her husband absconds, accused of being a participant in a huge money laundering scheme. Forced to live a hand-to-mouth existence (she takes jobs as a lollipop lady and an office cleaner), Kate must also re-evaluate her marriage, searching for past deceptions. Meanwhile, Felix is lying low under a new identity, surviving on a series of minimum wage jobs and struggling to come to terms with the havoc he has wreaked. In clear, concise prose, Morrall movingly depicts Kate's strength in the face of adversity, and Felix's excoriating regret at the damage done.
