Well, This Is Excellent: Celebrities Dramatically Read Kanye West Tweets

Kanye West

How to get a party started? Set a playful, Yeezy-themed tone by asking A-listers on the red carpet to read some of Kanye West’s most self-aggrandising, ‘truth’ telling and baffling Twitter statements, dramatically.

Predictably, the results were hilarious. Kanye brings the drama, always, and drama is the specialist subject of Hollywood's great and good.

Vanity Fair were responsible for making this happen, following the publication's equally excellent corralling of 29 celebrities to recite Justin Beiber lyrics at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

This second act is ever better than the first. Whoopi Goldberg took a turn, as did Hilary Swank, Monica Lewinsky, Juno Temple and Emily Ratajkowski.

Some highlights included Patrick Stewart’s extra-animated face and Kate Hudson’s rendition of the tweet ‘I’m not even gonna lie to you right now, I love me so much right now’. Classic Kanye.

The clip is, by turns, intense, amusing and illuminating.

Mindy Kaling’s performance of Kanye’s observation ‘Fur pillows are actually hard to sleep on’, reminded us that some of Kanye’s Twitter musings err on useful, and they make us consider things we never had before.

Plus, James Corden reading the line ‘Sometimes I get emotional over fonts’ reminded us that taking a ride on Kanye West’s train of thought would feature many stirring ups and downs. The man’s stream of consciousness (that he so generously commits to Twitter each day) is a never ending masterclass in being your own biggest fan, peppered with questions and complaints.

We hope nobody ever manages to confiscate his phone – and his 19.8M followers probably agree.

So now you’ve watched the video, it’s time to play this super-entertaining game at home. The next time you have a party, take a pause to read some of Kanye West’s tweets dramatically – channeling an egomaniac over drinks and dips is an excellent ice breaker.
