The latest Cabinet reshuffle has seen three female members sacked from their posts and only one out of 19 male members, prompting questions about why the Prime Minister has seemingly reneged on his pledge to promote more women.
Baroness Warsi, the Tory party co-chairman, Cheryl Gillan, the Welsh secretary, and Caroline Spelman, environment secretary have all lost their jobs.
Justine Greening, transport secretary, has now taken on the role of international development secretary. This is seen by some as a demotion after she vowed to vote against a third runway at Heathrow Airport.
Theresa Villiers was given a promotion to Northern Ireland secretary and Maria Miller, former disabilities minister, is now culture secretary. She replaces Jeremy Hunt who is now health secretary.
Only four women are left in the cabinet, including home secretary Theresa May who remains in her current position.
In contrast, the Labour Party's Shadow Cabinet has 13 female members.
