Dozens of Afghan women took to the streets of Kabul to protest against a public execution of a young women for alleged adultery.

The 22-year-old woman was shot dead as a crowd of men cheered in a village on the outskirts of the capital, and was filmed.

The authorities blamed the execution, which caused global outrage, on Taliban militants.

The protesters shouted 'we want justice' as they marched from the women's affairs ministry towards the UN headquarters in Kabul.

President Hamid Karzai has condemned the killing as un-Islamic and unforgivable and security forces have launched a manhunt for those responsible.
