After a 13-day mission to China’s space station their first female astronaut has returned to earth.
Liu Yang, 33, climbed out of a capsule to find herself in the terrain of Inner Mongolia.
She completed the mission with veteran astronaut Jing Haipeng and crew mate Liu Wang.
Yang was given a hero’s welcome as she made history.
She smiled, waved and saluted as she talked to the press about her mission to an orbiting space station prototype.
'Tiangong 1, our home in space, was comfortable and pleasant,' she says. 'We’re very proud of our nation.'
She is the 56th woman astronaut to have completed a space mission.
