A YouGov survey reveals women in London experience unwanted sexual attention on a daily basis prompting a calls for a public awareness campaign.

The poll, commissioned by End Violence Against Women, found 43 per cent of women aged between 18 and 34 were sexually harassed in public last year.

'Sexual harassment is so ingrained that we barely notice it, but when you start talking to women almost everyone has a horrible story to tell,' says Holly Dustin, director of EVAW. 'It's time for society to stand up and put a stop to it.'

21 per cent of 25 to 34 year olds experience unwanted sexual attention on public transport, while previous research shows one in three girls in UK schools experience unwanted sexual contact with girls as young as 12 being targeted.

'Sexual harassment has a real impact on women's lives, whether it's changing their behaviour or whether they feel safe on the streets,' says Dustin.
