How to get into ...

Amanda Knox is guilty...but is this the end?

By Carla Bevan  on Monday 7 December 2009

Amanda Knox - World News - Marie Claire

It's been a trial like no other, but following a year of court hearings Amanda Knox has been found guilty of the drug-fuelled sex murder of British student Meredith Kercher and jailed for 26 years.

The sentence was given alongside her Italian former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 25, who was jailed for 25 years.

But while the Kercher family spoke of their relief that justice has been done for their beloved daughter, many remain unconvinced that Knox, now infamously known as Foxy Knoxy, is truly guilty because of inconclusive forensics and unexplained actions.

Hillary Clinton has even been drawn into the battle to overturn Amanda Knox's conviction, and has agreed to meet a senator from 22-year-old Knox's home state of Washington.

Knox's furious father, Curt Knox, has vowed to fight to clear his daughter's name and spoke of his 'anger and disbelief' at the Italian justice system.

His campaign has gained the support of Senator Maria Cantwell, from Washington state, who believes there were 'serious questions about the Italian justice system' and would be raising her concerns with Mrs Clinton.

'The prosecution did not present enough evidence for an impartial jury to conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that Miss Knox was guilty,' she said. 'Italian jurors were allowed to view highly negative news coverage about Miss Knox.' How reliable was the DNA evidence, and did police get the right murder weapon, are just some of the question sbeing asked.

So, as Meredith Kercher's trial reaches a conclusion and her murderers face lengthy jail sentences, is there a chance we haven't heard the last of Amanda Knox? Have you say by adding a comment below.

This definitely isn't the end - there are just a few things that don't quite add up. It's all very strange. I just feel the upmost sympathy for the Kercher family.

I think that the prosecutor brain has atrophied. I believe that Amanda Knox is not guilty and I have genunine sympathy for all families involved. This is a disgrace for Italy and the italian jurors.
