Aldo Zilli’s charity menu for Italian earthquake victims
By Lucy Halfhead on Friday 15 May 2009
Acclaimed Italian Chef Aldo Zilli who says he was shocked by the recent tragic earthquake in his native region, Abruzzo, has announced that part of the proceeds of his new three-course menu at flagship restaurant Signor Zilli, will go directly to the Abruzzo Earthquake Fund.
The menu celebrates the cuisine of Abruzzo and the twist? Diners can pay exactly what they like for the food served to them.
Starters include baby pork meatballs, tomato and parmesan gratin, a mixed pulse soup with mains compromising of rabbit ravioli, garlic wine and lamb stew and angel hair pasta with smoked abruzzo mozzarella and roasted peppers.
Aldo is already planning several trips to Abruzzo to help people who have lost loved ones and been deprived of basic amenities.
'Hopefully having a menu with no price on it will actually encourage diners to give generously to the charity,' adds the chef.
