Barack and Michelle Obama demonstrated their fine dance moves as America's first couple last night – to the dulcet tones of Beyonce performing the Etta James classic At Last.

Denzel Washington introduced the dance - which was tender and performed beautifully - while a host of other celebrities looked on.

But before they showed off their fancy footwork, Barack said to the crowd: 'First of all, how good-looking is my wife?' receiving cheers as a response.

The Neighbourhood Ball was one of ten bashes attended by the new President and the first lady to celebrate his historic inauguration.

So moving I have tears in my eyes! Everyone is filled with such hope with Obama and his movements over the next few months affect us all. I really hope he can meet our high expectations and rebuild some of the mess Bush has left behind him.
