Burger King's Whopper Virgin ad

Whopper, Health news, Marie Claire

Burger King has found itself in hot water over a controversial new 'Whopper Virgin' ad which sees the chain feed impoverished farmers two kinds of burgers to see which they like the best.

Filmed in Romania, Thailand and Greenland, the ad asks: 'What happens if you take Transylvanian farmers who have never eaten a burger and ask them to compare Whopper versus Big Mac in the world's purest taste test? Will they prefer the Whopper? These are the Whopper Virgins.'

Although the ad hasn't yet aired, it is already being promoted via the website whoppervirgins.com, where Burger King suggests: 'If you want a real opinion about a burger, ask someone who doesn't even have a word for burger.'

However, not everyone sees the funny side.

'The ad's not even acknowledging that there's even hunger in any of these places,' Food First's development director told the New York Daily News.

Meanwhile, Sharon Akabas of the Institute of Human Nutrition at Columbia University asks: 'What's next? Are we going to start taking guns out to some of these remote places and ask them which one they like better?'

Not to mention the fact that if any of those people did eat the stupid burgers they would be instantly sick. They do not eat this type of food thus could not tolerate it.

yeah, i thought this ad was a little uneducated. why would we want to bring our unhealthy lifestyles of whoppers and big mac to other areas of the world? the better judge would be the couch potato who eats fast food all the time. lol.
