Key to romance? A seafood platter!
By Suzannah Ramsdale on Friday 21 November 2008
If you are heading out on a hot date this weekend, listen up: seafood is considered the most romantic of foods, according to new research.
Crab, lobster and crayfish are widely thought to be the perfect grub for an amorous encounter, according to a survey carried out by award-winning restaurant, The Crab at Chieveley.
'Crab is the most romantic of all foods,' says Dave Horridge, executive chef at The Crab at Chieveley.
'There's just something about breaking open the shell and enjoying that succulent taste and texture,' he added.
It'll come as no surprise that oysters are also deemed to be one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs, but in reality those slippery suckers have no effect.
Psychologically the shellfish simply act as a placebo, which can be strong enough to produce a greater desire for our loved one.
So next time your boyfriend suggests a fishy delicacy to get you in 'the mood,' remember it's all in your head!
