Neo-nazis plotted to kill Obama in top hat and tails

Barak Obama

Two neo-Nazis who planned to assasinate Barack Obama and 102 black Americans have been foiled, according to US federal agents.

The US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, who made the arrests last week, say the white supremacists met online and plotted to rob a gun shop before beginning a murder spree, dressed in white top hats and tails, which would culminate in a high speed attack on the Democratic nominee while shooting from the windows.

The two suspects, Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman, 18, were arrested in Tennessee last Wednesday and charged with possession of firearms, threats against a presidential candidate running and conspiring to rob a gun store, the Department of Justice said.

However, reports in the US suggest the neo-Nazi's plot was still in the very early stages.

This is the second thwarted assassination alert involving Barack Obama, who could become the first black president of America if he wins the country's election next Tuesday.

Three men were arrested back in July on the day of the Democrats' national convention in Denver. The suspects have reportedly made racist threats against Obama and were high on methamphetamine. The trio were subsequently charged with gun crimes, implying they were of no real threat to the Democratic candidate.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the ATF's Nashville field office, said the two white supremacists had 'very strong beliefs and views regarding 'white power' and 'skinhead' views. Mr Cowart possessed a rifle and two handguns, both stolen from his grandfather. They had bought food, nylon rope and ski masks and had planned a series of robberies to finance their plan.'

Mr Cavanaugh revealed it was the men's intention to shoot 88 African Americans and decapitate another 14 in a murder spree that would have included an attack on an unidentified school.

Last night Barack Obama's campaign group declined to comment on the arrests.
