Al Fayed sexual assault claims
Harrods boss, Mohammed al Fayed, has been questioned over an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl.
The retail king has 'vehemently' denied the claims and voluntarily went to a west London police station yesterday to answer questions about the alleged incident.
The Fulham Football Club owner, whose business emporium was estimated as £555 million, is being investigated over the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl who claims she was assaulted by Mr al Fayed in May this year.
Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: 'According to the girl she had been in the store with her mother, she had met Mohamed al Fayed somewhere in the store and he introduced himself.
'According to her, she was asked for her phone number and was later invited back to the store where, she says, this sexual assault took place.'
Mr al Fayed's spokeswoman, Katharine Witty, issued a statement saying: 'We confirm that Mohamed al Fayed today voluntarily attended an interview with police to categorically refute an allegation widely reported in the media.
'He did not attend under compulsion and the meeting lasted for less than half an hour.
'From the outset, details of this allegation have appeared in the media which they attributed to a police source, and indeed despite assurances that today's interview would be kept confidential, he is concerned that it was reported within one hour of its conclusion.
'Mr al Fayed vehemently denies this allegation and is confident that his name will be cleared.'

He is probably guilty. By running ahead to the police before any charges were put through to him he is trying to hide something. Why not let the course of justice run its toll?

This is to gerald, the previous comment. I'm curious, would you let a female accuse you of assault and wait to be arrested before you cleared your name. I don't understand why you think he's guilty because he approached the police. Don't ever do jury service. Although Alfayed is creepy looking the story does sound unlikely, but there is no particular look for a man that assaults a women, if he did it he deserves what's coming to him.
