Wettest August in 100 years
You may have had it with everyone moaning about the rubbish British summer, but they have good reason as the Met Office has predicted this August is set to be the wettest in 100 years.
With the weather outside almost feeling autumnal, parts of the UK have already had over twice the monthly average rainfall with two weeks of the month still to go.
The wettest August yet was recorded in 1912 when 192.9mm fell.
The Environment Agency said it had issued 16 flood warnings this month – compared to five last August.
However, before you book a flight out of here, it's not all doom and gloom with forecasters predicting a more positive picture for the bank holiday weekend. The weather should become 'slightly more settled' and 'somewhat warmer and drier', the Met Office has said.
Time to squeeze in one last summer barbecue? Let's hope so.
