The French-Colombian politician, Ingrid Betancourt, who was held hostage in the jungle for six years, has revealed she will write a play about her terrifying experience.

The 46-year-old arrived in France last week after a action film-style rescue and was reunited with her family. Speaking to French newspaper, Le Journal du Dimanche, Ms Betancourt revealed she planned to return to Colombia in the next few days.

'I shall return to Colombia in a few days. Meanwhile I want to see France, all of France. But I also want to be alone with my children ... I want to give this time to my family, to the father of my children whom I adore, who fought an extraordinary fight for me.'

When asked whether she would write a book about the ordeal, Ms Betancourt replied: 'I'll write a play'.
