An Italian bride who's wedding dress left her exposed at the altar is suing her designer for £20,000.

The blushing bride was left shattered after her £2,000 dress came unstitched as she said her vows, leaving her backside on display and a raft of giggling guests.

The 30-year-old woman cannot be named due to Italian privacy laws but is claiming damages saying her big day was ruined by the fiasco.

Her lawyer commented yesterday: 'This was supposed to be the biggest day of my client's life, but it turned out to be the worst, her wedding was ruined.

'She was left extremely embarrassed because the stitching of her dress came apart at the altar, slid down and revealed her bottom to the whole congregation.

'The priest concluded the ceremony and the couple were married but of course she was not able to take any proper photographs of the ceremony because she was semi-naked.'

The debacle took place in 2006 but has only just come to court, during which time the bride and groom have separated.
