Peter Phillips this weekend married Autumn Kelly in a low-key royal wedding.

Princess Anne's son, who is ninth in line to the throne, met his bride five years ago while working at the Montreal Grand Prix, but it took his future wife six weeks to discover his royal heritage.

On the big day itself, traditional pop and circumstance gave way to a more modern take on royal weddings, with only 300 guests in attendance and the doors to St George's chapel left open for onlookers to hear the rapturous applause that marked the couple's walk down the aisle.

The bride wore a strapless white gown by Sassi Holford and accessoried the dress with a lace bolero, two-metre-long train and a tiara borrowed from her mother-in-law.
