Kate McCann's regret in documentary
Rex Features
Kate and Gerry McCann have admitted they considered taking their children out to dinner with them the night their daughter Madeleine went missing.
The couple have revealed in a two-hour television documentary, to mark the one year anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance, that they had talked about going to another restaurant with the three-year-old and her brother and sister, but decided against it because of the half-mile walk and lack of a buggy.
Kate McCann also disclosed that she has 'persecuted' herself for not probing Madeleine more when she mentioned that morning that she had cried the previous night when her parents were out.
The documentary, entitled Madeleine, One year On: Campaign For Change will be aired on ITV1 at 8pm tonight and films the McCanns at their family home in Rothley, Leicestershire with their twins, Sean and Amelie. The cameras also follow them to Brussels and Washington to film their campaign for an EU-wide alert system for missing children.
In the lengthy interviews, Kate McCann visibly wells up with tears as she recalls the night Madeleine disappeared, whilst Gerry McCann expresses their feelings at being made 'arguidos' or official suspects.
For the first time, Kate insinuates a deal was offered to her by police if she admitted accidentally killing Madeleine and staging her disappearance. She states in the programme that she was not going to be 'railroaded'.
The makers of the programme say the McCanns had no editorial control over the documentary and were not paid, but a £10,000 donation was made to the Find Madeleine fund.

The did have a buggy, they were filmed with it, so why is she lying?
This lady didn't cry when she should have, why is she crying a year later, is it delayed reaction ?
