McCanns' anger over transcript leak

Kate and Gerry McCann are furious about the publication of leaked transcripts of last year's interviews with Portuguese police.



The transcripts show that on the morning of the day Madeleine disappeared, she asked her mother why she did not come when the children were crying the night before.



The McCanns spokeperson, Clarence Mitchell, immediately responded to the leak saying it was a 'deliberate smear'.



Gerry and Kate McCann have recently visited Brussels to support a new EU monitoring system for missing children.



Mr Mitchell commented: 'For a document covered by Portugal's judicial secrecy laws, to be leaked to the Spanish media on the very day they went to the European Parliament, is stretching all sense of belief to believe it's anything other than a deliberate smear.'



He explained that details from the transcripts have been on police files for almost a year and believed the story was deliberately disclosed on the day they went to Europe.



Mr Mitchell explained Madeleine's words were a 'short aside'. He said: 'Madeleine came out and said, 'Why didn't you come to me and Sean [Madeleine's younger brother] when we were crying last night?'



'Now, Kate and Gerry were puzzled by that because they'd been checking her every half an hour and they had seen no evidence and heard no evidence that she was crying.'



Madeleine went missing from the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on 3 May last year.

If the above is true, and I have every sympathy with the McCanns - then I find it quite shocking that they still went out that evening to dine with their friends!!! It should have been a wake-up call for the parents, to think long and hard before doing the leaving the kids alone - and stay indoors with them with a takeaway!!! They had already gone out and done the same routine 4 or 5 evenings, I'm sorry but when you have children, your social life comes to an end and you cannot possibly share your children with your friends - something has got to give!!! I cannot understand why they didn't use the babysitting service provided by their holiday rep- when I had my kids - 10 years apart - my social life came to an end - we never went anywhere for practically 20 years - I know it's a bit extreme - but I had no relatives living near, and my in-laws never offered!!! So we made sure once the first got to 4 - we went on holiday at least twice a year and did everything together!!! When she was 10, I had my 2nd baby, and repeated the exercise.

So much has been printed about Maddie and her parents, how are we to know what is true, imagined or fabricated just to sell newspapers? So many conflicting witness reports and opinions (that count for nothing). We are tempted to think there is more to this than meets the eye but, on the other hand, would any genuine heart-broken parent NOT keep looking for their missing child? Or, if it is all an elaborate charade how much longer will it be kept up. I don't know what to think.

If this is true, why is this a smear? We know the McCanns left their children alone in their unlocked apt. for 3 or 4 days previous. Any child might wonder why they weren't there. To me, this is the epitome of child neglect!

SIMPLE REASON THEY GET WHAT THEY WANT , LEFT CHILDREN ALONE IN APARTMENT A BIG EXAMPLE FOR ALL PARENTS THAT COULD WILL HAPPEN IF YOU NOT GIVE ATTENTION YOU FAMILY.
