Boris Johnson speaks to Marie Claire

With his mayoral campaign going great guns, Marie Claire's Janet Street-Porter sat down with Boris Johnson this week to quiz him on the subjects that really matter.



In a no-holds-barred interview, the Tory's great hope dodged questions about his children's private education, his alleged affairs and losing his virginity.



But Boris gave as good as he got, telling Janet he doesn't think 'Londoners give a monkey's' whether he's taken a vow of fidelity during his election campaign, nor when he popped his cherry.



'I really don't think the public cares about this,' Boris said. 'What they want is someone with energy and commitment and passion.'



And it seems he might be right: the latest weekend polls claim 'Boris the buffoon' has opened up a lead on Ken Livingstone
