Hillary Clinton campaign back on track

Marie Claire news: Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton has hinted at a White House dream ticket, with Obama as her vice-presidential running mate, if she wins the Democratic vote.

With her campaign back on track following a hat-trick of victories in the primaries this week, Hillary was in buoyant mood as she conducted a series of television interviews yesterday morning.

'That may, you know, be where this is headed,' she admitted, 'but of course we have to decide who’s on the top of ticket. I think that the people of Ohio very clearly said that it should be me.'

Despite her optimism, however, Obama still poses a serious challenge – and he definitely doesn't want to talk about the consolation prize.

'It is premature to talk about a joint ticket,' he said yesterday.

In fact, with the race set to run all the way to the Democrat conference in August, the gloves are off for the two contenders.

Following the release of a memo from Hillary's team which suggested Obama could be a 'lightning rod of controversy' if elected, he countered with: 'We knew that the closer we got to the change we seek, the more we'd see of the politics we’re trying to end - the attacks and distortions that try to distract us from the issues that matter to people's lives.'
