Has Sarkozy married Carla Bruni?

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has secretly married model Carla Bruni, reports suggest across the French media.

Just two months after meeting, and three months after Sarkozy divorced his wife, it is believed that the couple married in a low-key civil ceremony at the Elysée palace, attended by just a few friends.

French paper l'Est Républicain claims it has spoken to a source that attended the wedding, which took place last Thursday. The paper is known to have close ties to Sarkozy's inner circle, and was the first to interview his ex-wife Cécilia following their divorce. It is rumoured that Cécilia may be the source, having heard of the ceremony through one of Sarkozy's eldest sons, Pierre or Jean .

A spokesman for the President refused to confirm or deny reports, stating, 'This information concerns the private life of Nicolas Sarkozy and I have nothing to say.'

The rumours come a week after the President told press, 'There are strong chances that you will hear about it (the wedding) when it has already happened.'
