Rip-off England
FEELING OUT OF POCKET? You're not the only one. A new survey has placed England only one place behind Norway in a league table of countries which charge the most for consumer goods.
The prices of 26 popular products in 29 different cities were monitored for the survey with London costing 38% higher than the international average on things like vodka, Coca-Cola, Big Macs and cinema tickets.
'Not only is London the most expensive place in the world to watch a film, but Brits pay more than many other countries on a number of key consumer items, said Mattias Berg, managing director of PriceRunner.co.uk, which compiled the research.
So where do you need to go for a cheap night out? Well, Hungary is the cheapest place to watch a movie, with the average adult ticket price coming in at £3.14. If you'd prefer a fun night in, Tokyo, Japan, is the cheapest place to buy electrical items, including the Nintendo Wii at just £107.22.
