JK Rowling says Dumbledore is gay
IT MAY AS well have been a Hollywood star who came out this weekend, as when JK Rowling dropped the bombshell that one of the main characters in the Harry Potter novels, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, is gay, fans around the world were reeling.
The huge revelation came from JK Rowling during a question-and-answer session in New York. The news immediately hit the internet and raced around the world.
One young fan in the audience asked if Dumbledore finds true love, to which the 42-year-old author replied: 'Dumbledore is gay', triggering gasps from fans.
Rowling went on to explain: 'Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald (a bad wizard he defeated long ago).' Adding: 'Yeah, that's how I always saw Dumbledore.'
'Falling in love can blind us to an extent,' Rowling said of Dumbledore's emotions, revealing that the headmaster was 'horribly, terribly let down' and that his love was a 'great tragedy.'
