Roomorama hits web
By Lucy Halfhead on Wednesday 25 November 2009
A new peer-to-peer website has been launched in the UK, allowing travellers to rent apartments in cities like New York, Paris and Rome for a fraction of the cost of traditional hotels.
Roomorama.com is an online marketplace for short-term rentals, and since its debut in the US it's attracted a cult following among urban professionals, keen to get a great deal and top locations for their next city break.
Founded by Jia En and Federico, two cash-strapped New Yorkers who met while working at Bloomberg, the site offers travellers the chance to earn money from their spare room by letting it out for a few days. Or, if they are going away, they can book accommodation in a fully vetted, chic apartment in selected cities for a fraction of the price of a hotel. The concept allows travellers to save money and experience a slice of true city life.
To check it out for yourself, visit roomorama.com.
