Women wear the trousers for first romantic mini-break

Marie Claire News: World News

Most women have high expectations for their first romantic getaway with a new beau: candle-lit dinners, champagne on ice, and of course, it goes without saying the man should pick up the tab.

According to a new survey, four in five women would be pretty peeved if their new love interest didn’t foot the bill for a mini-break– and despite this demand, we still expect to choose when and where the amorous encounter will be.

However, it all evens out in the end because while the man anticipates spending an average of £351 for the trip, women end up splashing out £322 on sexy lingerie, jaw-dropping outfits and brand new make-up.

Men are also the more passionate of the sexes, the survey by online dating site match.com found. While us ladies are more interested in the practicals, like having a huge bed and top-notch spa facilities, the menfolk concentrate on finding a romantic hotel.

'You could say the first mini-break is the make or break of a new relationship,’ said Kate Taylor, relationship expert at match.com.

'It’s often the first time you’ll have spent 48 hours in each other's company – seeing each other first thing in the morning and compromising on what side of the bed you sleep on at night. So it’s not surprising that women want things to be perfect.’

This is all well and good, but can someone point us to where all these generous, romantic chaps are?
