Babymooning hot new travel trend
5* InterContinental Mar Menor, Golf Resort and Spa
Forget the honeymoon, babymooning is the hottest new travel trend.
Pioneered by some of the world's most luxurious hotels, babymooning is aimed at expectant couples wanting a little quality time together before their newborn arrives.
With spa treatments for the mum-to-be and golf for the guys, a babymoon is primarily about plenty of rest and relaxation before the sleepless nights kick in.
The five-star InterContinental Mar Menor resort in Spain is one of the hotels hoping to lure young couples with promises of special his-and-her spa treatments in a private room amid fabulous surroundings.
'More and more couples are deciding to have their first child much later when they are more accustomed to life's little luxuries,' says a spokesperson for the hotel. 'A Babymoon is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some quality time together and to reflect upon the new challenges and exciting life changing experience ahead without the pressures of everyday life getting in the way. The InterContinental Mar Menor is the perfect place to relax and unwind and we want to offer parents-to-be a package that recognises this very special and important time.'
However, for those who can't fly in the latter stages of their pregnancy, there are plenty of hotels in the UK also promising TLC on tap for nervous first-time parents.
Mother-to-be Abbie Moore was planning a babymoon with her husband before the birth of their first child, but was warned by her midwife flying was not a good idea. Still set on the idea of a pre-baby holiday, the couple went to the Lake District and enjoyed the delights of the British countryside instead.

Sounds a good idea - in theory, maybe for your first! I'm due in August with my 4th, and my priority before this one arrives is to make sure the other 3 children have a great summer. I always find holidays away much more hard work than being at home as you can never totally relax in a new environment when the children want to explore. So we're planning a few little trips this summer, Norfolk, Wiltshire etc. - my creature comforts come way down on the list of priorities, bubbas 1-3 always coming first! Health spas...what are they then?!?

A a Mum I totally agree; a babymoon with hubby before your precious little one arrives is just a must! You can get so wrapped up in ensuring you have purchased all the essentials on the baby must-have list and visiting all the friends and relatives that you won't get a chance to visit once baby arrives, that you forget the importance of taking time out for just the two of you!
Babymoons are a great avenue for bonding with your partner, making him feel included. With wonderful tailore-made treatments and classes you can feel de-stressed and better prepared for the wonderful life-changing time ahead.
One of our many Cupcake offerings is a Mumcierge service, taking the stress and concern out of all your Mummy related queries. Our baby is due at the end of May, but having miscarried once, I'm not prepared to even risk flying, or being away from the UK, just in case I need help. My boyfriend & I rented an appartment in York the week before last & had a great time. We chose an appartment over a hotel so that I had a place to lounge around other than just a bedroom, and a place to cook any midnight feasts I fancied. The appartment meant that I could take a break from the fantastic shopping (lots of high street shops featuring maternity ranges) mid spend, and go back out when refreshed. We booked tickets at the Theatre Royal, the Comedy Club, a pamper day at a local health spa... so it was a real treat. Staying in the UK also meant that I could communicate in restuarants that as a pregnant person I choose not to eat unpasturised cheeses, cured meats, livers, shellfish, alcohol etc which is not easily understood by waiters in other parts of Europe who have different customs.
