Female-only airline set to launch later this year

Marie Claire news; New all-female Fly Pink female airline to launch

A women-only airline, with pink planes and pink champagne, is set to take flight later this year.

The brainchild of 24-year-old entrepreneur Adam Charles, Fly Pink is a budget boutique airline aimed at hen parties for moneyed women who need some men-free time.

Offering manicures and pink champagne before take off, the all-pink planes are truly aimed at the super-girlie - a marketing ploy that has been in overdrive in recent months.

With the advent of women-only taxi firms, car insurance (who could forget Sheilas' Wheels?), airlines, beaches and hotel floors, you could forgive men for feeling slightly marginalised.

But, rather then being about feminist-driven economics, it's more likely to be about finance.

Companies are cashing in on women's increased spending power. According to Data monitor, of the 376,000 millionaires in the UK, 46% are female.

Having families later in life and concentrating on their career has helped make women a financial force to be reckoned with.

According to Emma Lainey, founder of Syren, a female-focused marketing company that has worked with Jimmy Choo and Weight Watchers, this is 'partly to do with a new generation of so-called kitchen-table tycoons.

'On average single women earn more than single men - it is only post-kids and marriage that inequality creeps in.'
