He already has a World Championship and Commonwealth Games gold medals and will be wanting to add to his collection.

OLYMPIC MEDAL WINNERS 2012

Daley's last competition in the 2012 Olympics ended in disappointment when a bad dive cost him and partner Peter Waterfield a medal in the 10m synchro event.

He has been focusing on training and staying out of the limelight to increase his chances of gold, tweeting: 'Feeling focused. Training has gone well. I'm looking forward to giving it my all for Team GB.'

His biggest rival is Qiu Bo from China who is the first diver in history to score more than 600 points.

The 10m preliminary round starts at 7pm this evening.

We're rooting for you Tom!
