Cellulite-busting control pants promise to 'shave three inches of fat in just 21 days'

It sounds like the answer to all our Christmas prayers: no need to give the endless festive cocktails and canapes a miss, as the makers of a simple pair of pants claim they can smooth away cellulite and burn calories.

PeachyBody pants can, apparently, slim the waistline, buttocks and thighs by up to three inches in just 21 days. Made from a tightly woven polyamide material, they work by massaging the skin to improve blood flow.

The fat cells are compressed as the wearer moves around, and this, combined with the body's natural warmth, stimulates the break-down of retained fluids, toxins and fatty deposits.

The material - called Polyamide Meryl Skinlife - also contains extracts of peaches to moisturise the skin, green tea which works as an anti-oxidant, and coffee bean to eliminate excess water.

If worn for eight hours a day on 21 consecutive days, it's claimed the pants can result in a more toned figure. Debenhams, which is selling the tights, is predicting they will fly off the shelves. Available in black and nude, they are priced at £25, or £30 for a high-waisted version. Black leggings are also available for £38.

Could they see an end to liposuction and endless hours in the gym? There's only one way to find out...but if you're looking for more toning ideas, click here to read Marie Claire's 10 Best Cellulite-Busting Cures.
