It's the age old question, for those with a slightly filthy mind, and now a study has found women are more attracted to well-endowed men

Female sexual desire is linked to penis size, according to a new study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) – yes, that anagram made us laugh too.

Lead author of the study, Dr Brian Mautz, told The Independent newspaper: 'We found that male attractiveness is significantly influenced by penis-size. More specifically, we found that large penises are rated as relatively more attractive than smaller ones'.

But it’s not a superficial thing. According to the report, this innate attractiveness to well-endowed men stems from evolutionary principles, in which women would actively seek out men with larger penises because they were more likely to produce healthy children.

Computer-generated images of men with varying physical attributes were shown to over 100 adult Australian women. The males’ height, shoulder-width and flaccid penis-size were all altered on the images, and the women were asked to rate each image in terms of sexual attractiveness from one to seven.

The study was carried out by researchers from Monash University in Australia and Australian National University, and showed although women’s opinions were dependent on a variety of physical features, all preferred a large penis.

However, proportion is crucial. Dr Mautz said: 'The effect of penis size on attractiveness is not independent of the other two traits of height and shoulder-to-hip ratio. For example, penis-size has a much larger effect on attractiveness for taller men, than it does for shorter men'.
