Iconic romantic fiction publisher is jumping on the erotic fiction bandwagon

Iconic romance publisher Mills & Boon is cashing in on the interest in erotic novels by launching a rival to "mummy porn" bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey.

The new series, called Twelve Shades of Surrender, be launched in e-book form for £1.99 each following the Kindle success of E.L James’s trilogy.

The publisher, who are known for their old-fashioned romance novels, are billing the series as a ‘daring selection for fans of Fifty Shades’.

The 12 stories include a book called Cuffing Kate, which like 50 Shades is a novel about dominance and submission.

A Mills & Boon spokesperson says: ‘Erotica is becoming more mainstream and acceptable as we and others evolve our packaging to become less explicit and women become ever more empowered to read what they want to and enjoy.'

Recently romance writer Jilly Cooper praised Fifty Shades saying it was ‘giving a new lease of life to the genre’.

And Team MC's hearts were sent a flutter when it was confirmed that Crazy Stupid Love star Ryan Gosling had been hotly tipped to take on the lead role of Christian Grey in a film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
