Mark Bridger weeps in court as he is charged with murder of April Jones

Accused appeared at magistrates' court this morning

Mark Bridger, who has been charged with the abduction and murder of five-year-old family friend April Jones, wept during his first court appearance this morning.

Around 100 people heckled the van which drove him to Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court and bottles and a shoe were also thrown at the vehicle.

The 46-year-old former soldier has been remanded in custody and will have a crown court hearing on Wednesday.

He is also charged with the unlawful disposal and concealment of her body with intent to pervert the course of justice.

April was abducted a week ago as she played in the streets of her home town.

Other children said they saw her get into a car.

She remains missing despite a detailed forensic search.
