Robin Wright, who you may know as the formidable Claire Underwood in Netflix super-series House of Cards, is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the gender pay gap, having recalled the time she demanded Netflix bosses to pay her the same amount as House of Cards co-star, Kevin Spacey.

Robin shared her story when speaking to an audience at the Rockefeller Foundation, recounting how she negotiated with producers after she realised she was being paid less than her co-star, Kevin Spacey a few seasons into the show.

'I was like, "I want to be paid the same as Kevin,"' said Wright to the audience. She continued:

'I was looking at statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalised on that moment.'

'I was like, "You better pay me or I’m going to go public." And they did.' This woman knows how to negotiate. *Bows down*.

But just how much less was Robin being paid? Before Season 3 began in 2014, Kevin Spacey was reportedly making $500,000 per episode. In comparison, Robin Wright made $5.5 million on House of Cards between 2014 and 2015. That translates to about $420,000 per episode. That's a big difference.
