Earthquake in Japan - World News - Marie Claire - Marie Claire UK

Feeling helpless since the Japanese earthquake? Get involved and do your bit with our pick of the fundraisers.

Rumble in the jumble

If you thought jumble sales were about rummaging through boxes of old cycling shorts and cheap discoloured jewellery, think again! Putting the glamour back into the jumble is this designer sale at Mayfair Music Rooms in London on Saturday 2 April (11am-6pm).

Keep an eye out for bargains to be had from Stella McCartney, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton or donate your unwanted clothes ahead of the sale by emailing beckypoostchi@yahoo.co.uk. All proceeds go to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. Take plenty of cash!

Wear the T-shirt
Simeon Farrar’s ‘Models Gone Wild’ T-shirts were a quirky style hit earlier in the year and now the generous designer/artist is selling his best-selling (and our favourite) ‘Kate Mouse’ tee for just £20 - a bargain of a price for a piece that was originally £90.

All proceeds will go to Save The Children for the relief effort in Japan. To get your hands on one, go to www.donnaida.com.

Party with celebs
With T4’s Jameela Jamil hosting, Metronomy DJ-ing, and bands including The View performing, The Hoxton Pony in Shoreditch’s Help Japan fundraiser should shape up to be a pretty celeb-fuelled affair!

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, there’s a charity raffle with donations from everyone from Eliza Doolittle to Coco Sumner – that’s one stylish lucky dip!

Run like the wind
For those of you feeling a little more energetic, Run For Japan are challenging us to run 24,901 miles (that’s erm, right around the world). Thankfully you’ll be splitting the distance with runners from all over the globe. To dedicate your next run to the fund, visit www.runforjapan.com for details. Good luck!
